Natural Disturbances
This interactive piece works with machine learning to audibly respond to the movements of the viewers within this exhibition space. Trained on different movements, postures and actions, the programme mimics sounds one might hear when in nature, but perhaps a little warped. Just as humans react to their environments, so the environment reacts to us and because computers have the software to take in and interpret sensory information, they become a highly reactive part of our existence as well. By seeing oneself through the eyes of the machine within this work as well as hearing its responses to our presence the computer seems to become a sensitive entity acting within a larger virtual environment.
